The Kind @ CBGB - NYC - July 14, 1982 Andre Aleksis - Guitar & Vocals Harlan Emil - Bass Guitar Mike D'Agostino - Drums Mark Bouchard - Guitar Sal Perla - Keyboards 0:24 - Deeper Than the Sea 4:11 - Only Friend 9:32 - Love in Time 14:45 - Another Way 18:10 - Years Gone By 24:31 - Distant Memories 33:08 - Crystalized 38:02 - Players of the New Age 42:29 - Not Just a Pretty Face I was the motivating force behind getting this band together, after dropping out of University after three years (two years at Emory, one semester at Georgia Tech and one semester at U of Miami) and moving back to my hometown of Oakdale in Long Island, New York to get my Connetquot High School friends to form a New Wave rock band which I named The Kind. We rented a rehearsal space in the neighboring town of Sayville for the year of 1980 and then all moved in to NYC in 1981 into a loft on 6th Ave and 8th St in Greenwich Village. Andre wrote most of the songs and sang them, I wrote Crystalized but he sang it, as I never learned to sing at all. We only played around NYC and recorded two demo tapes, we never toured or released any albums. This is the second line up of the band, we were originally a four piece with a different keyboard player, Marc Manley. He left in 1982 and we added another guitar and different keyboard player, both from Connetquot High School in Long Island. We disbanded in 1983. #cbgb #newwave #newwavemusic #newwave80s #newwave80
