For the third year of secondary school, we will solve two exercises on second-degree equations using Vieta's formulas, named after the mathematician François Viète. In the 16th century, he established the relationship between the general equation of a second-degree polynomial function ax²+bx+c=0 and the formula x²-Sx+P=0, where S=x1+x2=-b/a is equal to the sum of the roots of the equation, and P=x1*x2=c/a is equal to their product. This way, we can quickly obtain one of the roots of a second-degree equation if one of the roots is known.
