Cab ride Shelford to Marks Tey 1960

Video showing current progress on recreating the Stour Valley line between Shelford & Marks Tey, along with the Bury St Edmunds branch from Long Melford, the Colne Valley route and the Saffron Walden branch. This is the Shelford - Marks Tey section. The recreation is centred on the period around 1959 - 1960, just before there were any major curtailments to service, however some sidings had already been removed in the mid 1950s. The original cab view film insert is from a 8mm film made by Bernard Walsh which is used with permission from the Great Eastern Railway Society original video is available (https://www.gersociety.org.uk/index.php/fi.... While every effort was made to synchronise the original footage with the train simulator recording, this proved to be very difficult, especially at approaches and leaving stations, due to variable frame rates and different rates of acceleration & deceleration between the real and simulated trains. The film clearly shows just how run down the line had become by 1966.
