Depeche Mode - Music Mixed For The Masses (35th Anniversary)

This is my DJ Mix of Depeche Mode's "Music For The Masses", entitled "Music Mixed For The Masses (35th Anniversary)". Back in 1987, aged just 16, I queued overnight outside Sheffield City Hall to get tickets for the gig in January 1988. I don't even know if my parents knew what I was doing, or where I was, but suffice to say it was a long night, aided by cigarettes and alcohol. I was first in the queue and when the gig finally came around, I was in teh best spot in the venue. Support band was Hard Corps and so front row, aged by then 17, it was the best place to be, although the local authority banned Regine Fetet from being naked, although when she disrobed to reveal a backless skirt, it was all too late for anyone to do anything. When Depeche Mode came onstage to Pimpf, I raised the curtain as teh band came onstage and I was fortunate enough to shake hands with all four band members, something I will never forget. And when part of teh stage moved forward for Martin's performances, his Dr Martens were right in my face. When the curtain dropped on Behind The Wheel, teh surge from the crowd was immense, and although I had been to some pretty rough gigs (Spear Of Destiny, Gary Numan, The Cult and The Mission) at the same venue, the pain I felt was immense. Naturally, you don't queue overnight for tickets to a gig to depart, so I held my ground and stayed throughout, only to find the next day that I had indeed snapped my breastbone. The bruises were like nothing I had seen before and I was taken into hospital and made a recovery. Music For The Masses not only holds great memories in time for me, but contains some of the bands finest tracks in my opinion. Never Let Me Down Again, Strangelove, Behind The Wheel and Nothing are my favourites, with some of the bands best b-sides included; Pleasure Little Treasure, and their version of Route 66. So, anyone that actually knowd me well, will know that I attempted a mix of teh album probably about 4 or 5 years ago, but it never saw the light of day, with only a couple of close pals being able to hear it briefly. I hope this mix does the album and the band some justice. Tracks used in this mix (in alphabetical order): Behind The Wheel I Want You Now Interlude (Mission Impossible) Little 15 Never Let Me Down Again (Twice) Nothing Pimpf Pleasure Little Treasure Route 66 Sacred Strangelove The Things You Said To Have And To Hold If you like the mix, please share it, as I don't really promote my mixes and the best way to have them heard is through recommendation etc. If you like it enough to want an MP3 copy, please email me at [email protected] and I will arrange a copy to be downloaded via Dropbox.
