While exploring Elton Trench, Sandrone studies the terrain changes, sediment buildup, and underwater environment while asking the Traveler to collect specimens to keep up appearances for the film crew. But as memories of Poisson and the past resurface, it becomes clear that Sandrone’s return is about more than research. After sending the Traveler and Paimon back to the Wingalet, Sandrone stays behind to search on her own, wondering what Alain may have left for her — and whether he always knew she would come back.
