How did 100 million hryvnias of investment in children's sports end up under threat? The legendary sports club "Voskhod" in Kyiv is not just a sports complex, but a real forge of champions, which has been raising Olympians, world and European champions for decades. Today, this facility is again at the center of a loud confrontation. The history of "Voskhod" begins in the 1950s, when a stadium and shooting range were built for employees of the Kyiv Radio Plant. In the 1970s, the complex was modernized to the highest level. Up to 8 thousand athletes trained here at the same time - boxers, gymnasts, chess players and many others. After the collapse of the USSR and the bankruptcy of the plant, the complex found itself in a difficult situation. In 2020, a real threat of development loomed over "Voskhod" - they planned to demolish the stadium for another residential complex. Then parents and young athletes went on protests and defended the right to sports. In 2024, the Supreme Court confirmed the legality of the transfer of property to the new owner, Kyivenergocom. Over the past few years, more than 60 million hryvnias have been invested in reconstruction. It is planned to invest another 40 million to create a modern world-class sports hub with two swimming pools, specialized halls and everything necessary for the training of champions. But a new threat has appeared at the finish line. In February 2026, the liquidator of the Kyiv Radio Plant, Vasyl Mysan, filed a new lawsuit that blocks the further revival of the club. The owners claim that this was preceded by attempts to impose dubious agreements and the payment of compensation. After the refusal, there was a legal mess that jeopardizes the million-dollar investment and the opening of the complex for children. We visited the facility, talked to coaches, parents and students. For many families, Voskhod is the only affordable quality sport during the war. Children need this place for physical development, psychological rehabilitation and distraction from worries and air worries. Why does the liquidator continue to sue if the courts have already put an end to it? Is this an attempt to put pressure on business? Why is the state liquidator blocking private investments in children's sports? We tried to get a comment from Vasyl Mysan, but he avoids communication.
