The first time was after visiting the "Wulakusan Hot Spring," and I spent the whole afternoon soaking in this hot spring pool with friends. The second time was when Xiao Fei and I rowed down from upstream and soaked in the mud hot spring bath. This year, the hot spring is presented in a different way. The pool near the Southern Cross-Island Highway is orange, indicating that it has been affected by construction. The smell of rust and oil is very strong. On the other side of the river is the main outcrop of "Caixia Hot Spring." The temperature of the gushing water this year is very high, but because the water level of the Xinwulu River was high when I came, only a small pool was built for soaking, and the temperature was relatively comfortable. "Caixia Hot Spring" Caixia is located in Wulu Village, Haiduan Township, Taitung County, with coordinates (X): 260027 (Y): 2559781 and an altitude of 576m. The hot spring originates from fissures in black schist. Due to the wider riverbed of the Xinwulu River in this section, the hot springs have been buried by sand and gravel in recent years. There are small amounts of travertine deposits near the springhead, and some of the spring water has a slightly higher iron content, with brownish-red sediment. A hot spring with a temperature of 83.6℃ was collected in March 2006. In recent years, the hot springs have mostly been covered by sand and gravel. A hot spring with a temperature of 38.8℃ was collected in March 2010, but the water quality had been diluted by the river water and was not representative. Exposed Lithology: Late Paleozoic-Mesozoic Danan'ao Schist (1:500,000 Taiwan Regional Geological Map data file, 2000) Signature Area: Caixia Hot Spring is located on both banks of the Xinwulu River near the Caixia Tunnel on the Eastern Section of the Southern Cross-Island Highway. The hot spring sign extends for approximately 200 meters.
