Every year, in July, a traditional festival takes place in a small town deep in the Mexican desert. 🇲🇽 My friend César — who used to be my Hebrew student — invited me to join him and experience this festival together. Before meeting him, I’d heard so many warnings about how dangerous this area was. One of my friends, who was supposed to come with us, canceled at the last minute and said: “Whoever goes to Durango… never comes back alive.” Despite all the warnings, I decided to go anyway. When we finally arrived at the town, I realized how wrong those rumors were. The people were warm, curious, and full of life. They were excited to hear I was from Jerusalem, and treated me like one of their own. The festival itself was colorful, loud, and full of energy. Each day had a different event — and I want to share with you the three that moved me the most: 🐎 The annual horse parade – hundreds of riders filling the streets, ending with a dramatic bull competition. 🚗 A day of car races through the town’s streets – pure adrenaline, chaos, and excitement. 🎆 And finally, the last night – when the whole town comes alive with music, dancing, alcohol, and fireworks.
