Deadlands Classic: обзор НРИ.

The Wild West, cowboys, gunslingers, steam locomotives, bank robberies, chases, the Civil War, witchcraft, and Call of Cthulhu-inspired mysticism all come together in this vibrant and unusual RPG, and the result is a surprisingly successful cocktail. This is a review of the very first edition of Deadlands (before Savage Worlds), the one that constantly uses poker chips and cards, and whose game mechanics are considered cumbersome by those who favor simplification and speedups. The system literally oozes a unique atmosphere and distinctive style, with characters enjoying a huge amount of freedom (mad scientists are pure fantasy in this regard). In my opinion, its only weakness isn't the game mechanics or the setting, which in this edition isn't cut to fit the narrative, but the unceremonious shoving of local evil spirits in players' faces at every turn. But fortunately, all these little issues can be fixed with a file, and then the game literally begins to shine like a gold dollar and turns into something incredibly captivating.
