In the early 1980s, the guitarist came to the UK. After his own songs were played on the Friday Night Rock Show on BBC Radio 1. The career of the blues and rock guitarist, singer and songwriter began. Simpson contributed musically to films such as The Running Man (1987) with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Three Men and a Baby with Tom Selleck. In the 1990s, Simpson worked with British session drummer and producer Graham Broad and recorded sessions for Rolling Stone Bill Wyman, Pink Floyd's Roger Waters, Tina Turner (he created the riff to Steamy Windows), Bryan Adams and Go West. In the mid-1990s, Simpson collaborated with John Parr (St. Elmo's Fire). His fantastic guitar work is on the Parr album Man with a Vision, released in 92, and was in the touring Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings touring lineup. His 2004 original song "A Father's Son" won the International Songwriters Award sponsored by the Brits Trust. He played as a guest at B.B. King's 80th birthday celebration at his blues club in New York. And played alongside Gary Moore, John Lord, Snowy White and Alvin Lee.He was nominated for "Best Newcomer" at the Cannes Festival and for the Kevin Thorpe Memorial Award for his song "Sometimes I Get So Lonely as the best original song.
