In this video, I show the complete voting process: from the preparation of the electoral system to the moment the result is transmitted and totaled. You will understand the role of digital signatures, hashes, Secure Boot, the zeroing process, the Ballot Box Report, and public security tests. I also explain what has already been found in these tests, what attacks would require physical access to the ballot box, what is possible in a laboratory, and what this means (or doesn't mean) for a real election. Furthermore, I compare the Brazilian system with the decision of the German Constitutional Court, which did not prohibit electronic ballot boxes but required that the essential stages of voting could be verified by citizens without technical knowledge. From this, we discuss the VVPAT (Voter Verification and Approval), the physical record verified by the voter, and why this mechanism is not used in Brazil today. The idea here is to understand how the electronic ballot box works, what its protections are, what its limits are, and where the real debate about transparency, auditing, and electoral trust lies.
