Point A to Point B | Sound design walkthrough with Morphagene, Mutable Instruments Beads
I'm in the process of making a record with my friend Luke Elliot (https://lelliott.bandcamp.com). We live on different continents and in timezones far apart. For the most part I've been doing sound design and sending him big batches of files to play around with and compose. Rinse and repeat. This video is about one particular sound I designed that felt pretty magical as I was doing it. I hope you enjoy watching how the sounds get transformed through the process. I started with my Rhodes piano played direct into a DIY phaser I built, then into the Strymon Iridium to get amp sounds. I own a good amp but sometimes I need to be quiet in my tiny house. I noodled and edited a particular phrase I found interesting down and saved it to the micro SD card for MakeNoise/soundhack Morphagene. I ran that sample from Morphagene into Mutable Instruments Beads. During that session I didn't do any patching to speak of just explored with the various controls and essentially began to hear the seeds of melodies and even a composition. I hope you find it as delightful as I did. As always, if you like what i'm doing here, please follow me on YT, Insta and mostly Bandcamp where I release all music digitally and occasionally on analog media too! 00:00 Introduction 00:56 Sound design and expectations 02:28 How I created the sample 02:54 Eurorack Confessions™ 04:09 Playing the original sample 05:20 Morphagene overview 07:27 Morphing the sample 10:53 Patching in Beads 13:43 Exploring with the full patch 18:30 Sound design final result
