Fukuoka City has launched a project aimed at alleviating congestion on the Nanakuma Subway Line. As a first step, starting on the 4th, the city will increase the number of trains by a total of six during the evening rush hour. The goal is to reduce congestion from 120% to around 100%. The additional trains will be one in the 5:00 PM hour, two each in the 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM hours, and one in the 9:00 AM hour. The Nanakuma Line's extension to Hakata Station has increased convenience and led to a rapid increase in ridership. The city has responded by increasing train service twice, utilizing spare cars and reviewing inspection procedures. This is the third increase since the extension. With ridership expected to continue to increase along the line's development, the city plans to introduce new trains in fiscal 2026 to alleviate morning congestion.
