Beginner Dive Excursion in the Great Barrier Reef… Was It Worth It?

Turtles, reef sharks, and 2 scuba dives — all on the Great Barrier Reef 🐢🦈 We finally hit Australia’s outer reef and it was exactly what we expected… incredible! During STOP 4 of our circumnavigation trip, we spent a few days in Cairns, then booked a full-day scuba and snorkel trip with "Reef Experience" to finally see the legendary Great Barrier Reef for ourselves. 🐢 We saw multiple sea turtles 🦈 Came face-to-face with a white tipped reef shark 🤿 Did 2 scuba dives 🌊 Plus 2 snorkel sessions By this point in the trip we were seriously feeling the travel fatigue, but this day completely woke us up. That said — we’re keeping it honest. The experience was definitely a bit commercialized (lots of people, structured schedule), but if you’re a beginner diver, nervous first-timer, or traveling as a family, it’s actually a really accessible and well-organized way to experience the reef safely.
