In one day, we decided to see the different sides of St. Petersburg—imperial, Soviet, modern, and simply cozy. Our route began with the quiet and desolate Kanonersky Island, overlooking the harsh industrial landscape. Then, we abruptly changed the atmosphere, ascending to the observation deck of Smolny Cathedral to take in the entire historic center from above. We strolled through Alexander Park and stopped by the Leningrad Zoo to interact with its furry inhabitants. We walked through the monumental Field of Mars, feeling its historical power, and ended the day in the harmony of the fountains and sculptures of the Summer Garden.
