CJP Protest: What Injured Students Said About the Alleged Pellet Gun Attack

On July 24, 2026, The New Indian Express reported that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi appeared before the media with a 19-year-old student protester named Sahil. He slammed the central government and accused them of using pellet guns and lathi-charges against peaceful student demonstrators during the July 20 protest march over examination paper leaks. Meanwhile Activist Sonam Wangchuk, ended his fast at the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh. The CJP and government are likely to hold talks at the Constitution Club at 12:30 pm on Friday. During the crackdown on 20th July 2026, injured students recount the violence they say they experienced during the police action at the protest. One student describes suffering a serious neck injury and claims that there was no immediate medical assistance available at the site. Near Nizamuddin and Lodhi Road, several students alleged they were detained, taken away in police vans, and later released at different locations away from Central Delhi. In the case of Sheikh Irshad, whose injuries sparked viral claims on social media that a pellet gun had been used. Delhi Police has denied these claims, stating that no pellet guns were used during crowd control operations.
