Partidos con representación en el nuevo Congreso bicameral recibirán millonario financiamiento

The six political parties that won seats in the bicameral Congress for the 2026-2031 term will receive direct public funding, the amount of which is calculated using a formula established in electoral law. This funding is equivalent to 0.1% of a Tax Unit (UIT) multiplied by the number of valid votes obtained by the organizations that achieved parliamentary representation. According to estimates, the political groups will collectively receive approximately 222 million soles during the new term. In comparison, after the 2021 general elections, the parties that won seats in the then unicameral Congress received approximately 78 million soles for the same purpose. It is worth noting that the bicameral Congress will consist of a Chamber of Deputies with 130 members and a Senate with 60 members. In total, six political organizations obtained representation in both chambers. POLITICAL PARTIES In the Chamber of Deputies, Fuerza Popular will have 41 seats, followed by Juntos por el Perú with 32, Partido del Buen Gobierno with 18, Renovación Popular with 15, Partido Cívico Obras with 14, and Ahora Nación with 10. In the Senate, Fuerza Popular won 22 seats; Juntos por el Perú, 14; Renovación Popular, 8; Partido del Buen Gobierno, 7; Partido Cívico Obras, 5; and Ahora Nación, 4.
