Van Halen Lesson - Tapping And Speed Picking Tips To Sound Like Eddie Van Halen

In this video I go over some tips on how to finger tap and speed pick in the style of Van Halen. I demonstrate some parts from Hot For Teach, Spanish Fly, Erruption and Ice Cream Man among others. We also review ways to identify the right shapes to use when tapping and how to use them lineally on the fretboard. I also review speed picking techniques, including ways that have helped me to master the technique over the years like ways to hold the pick, how to angle the pick and anchor your hand on the guitar as well as using tour forearm vs. wrist. This video simply shows what has worked for me over the years in trying to find successful ways to emulate or play in the style of Van Halen. Eddie is often copied but never duplicated, and my intention is to celebrate the style of Van Halen and assist you in unlocking some of the secrets and helping you develop your own style and have some fun.
