Sonata No. 1 “Floating Shadows” 《奏鸣曲 No. 1— “浮影”》

Sonata No. 1 “Floating Shadows” Composer: Gao Ping Performer: Gao Ping Peking University Hall Written in early 2015, Sonata No. 1 “Floating Shadows” was commissioned and premiered by the pianist Zou Xiang. The sound of piano often makes me think of shadows. Wether it has something to do with the impersonal “monochromatic” quality of the instrument,I am not entirely sure. In my imagination, these movements are like images of light projected into a shadowy space. They are dramas of light and shadow. The first movement is distant and ethereal, with many fluttering ideas and fantasies. The tone darkens in the second movement in which a deep elegiac mood permeates everything. The last movement, a presto, flies by like lightening while ideas from earlier movements emerge and subside in the torrents of notes. The work contains an array of ever-changing moods and feelings. Like many other things, they are but floating shadows… (Gao Ping) 《奏鸣曲 No. 1— “浮影”》作于2015年年初,是钢琴家邹翔委约并首演的作品。 钢琴的声响常常给我一种阴翳感,这会不会和它非个性化的“素色”质地有关, 我自己也不太清楚。 我想象这些乐章是投射在阴翳中的光影,是光和影的戏剧。第一乐章是悠远飘忽的,有一些极轻盈、稍纵即逝的乐思和幻想。第二乐章色调暗下来,被沉郁的哀歌气氛所笼罩。末乐章是急板,炫彩般闪耀而过,前两章的某些旋律在奔腾的音群中浮现又沉没。 整部作品充满了灵动而变换不止的感觉和情绪。 像很多事情一样,它们不过是浮光掠影罢了…(高平)
