The geological investigations began at Kjøde in 2014. The first boreholes were drilled here to map the rock conditions where the world's first ship tunnel would one day be constructed. In 2016, the investigations continued in Saltsundet near Selje. Additional drilling provided important information about the ground conditions and formed the basis for the further planning of the project. Three years later, in 2019, activity returned to the area. New ground investigations were carried out both in Moldefjorden and at Kjøde to ensure the best possible knowledge base before construction. Over several decades, the Stad Ship Tunnel has been the subject of extensive studies, planning, and political processes. After many years of preparation and development, the project received political approval, and the Norwegian Parliament decided that the Stad Ship Tunnel should be built. These images document an important part of the history behind one of the most ambitious transport infrastructure projects along the Norwegian coast —a project designed to provide safer and more reliable passage for maritime traffic around the weather-exposed waters of Stadlandet. Nye boringar gav viktig kunnskap om grunnforholda og la grunnlaget for den vidare planlegginga av prosjektet. Tre år seinare, i 2019, var det igjen aktivitet i området. Då vart det gjennomført nye grunnboringar både i Moldefjorden og på Kjøde for å sikre eit best mogleg kunnskapsgrunnlag før byggestart. Gjennom fleire tiår har Stad skipstunnel vore gjenstand for omfattande utgreiingar, planlegging og politiske prosessar. Men etter mange år med arbeid og førebuingar har prosjektet fått politisk tilslutning, og Stortinget har vedteke at Stad skipstunnel skal byggjast. Desse bileta dokumenterer ein viktig del av historia bak eit av dei mest ambisiøse samferdselsprosjekta langs norskekysten – eit prosjekt som skal gi tryggare og meir føreseieleg ferdsel for sjøtrafikken forbi det vêrharde Stadlandet.
