Posušje is a populated place and the center of the municipality of the same name in the southwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and belongs to the West Herzegovina Canton. The Posuška region includes four stepped karst plains: Posuško-Virsko polje, Tribistovo, Rakitno and the mountain area around the Blidinjsko lake. Posusje is 29 kilometers from Široki Brijeg, 54 kilometers from Mostaar, 10 kilometers from Imotski and 51 kilometers from Makarska. The Posuška region is bordered from the north by mountains and hills from 900 to 1400 meters above sea level (Zavelim, Radovanj, Plejin vrh, Kušanovac, Starka, Kljenak and others). According to the last population census from 2013, there are 20,477 inhabitants, almost one hundred percent of whom are Bosnian Croats. This means that Posušje, along with Grude, is the municipality with the highest percentage of Bosnian Croats of all areas where Croats live in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
