Unlike what many critics say, true Calvinism does not teach that God is the author of sin or that He "injected evil" into human beings. Because of the Doctrine of Total Depravity (after the Fall of Adam), the heart of natural man is already inclined toward evil. Therefore, God acts permissively and justly when He simply removes His restriction (common grace), allowing the creature to follow its own evil and rebellious desires—as happened in the hardening of Pharaoh's heart. On the other hand, when someone believes in the Gospel and is saved, this only happens through an active intervention of God! It is the Lord who goes there and actively transforms our will, giving us a new heart so that we can love Him, see His goodness, and worship Him spontaneously. The glory of predestination is that it does not destroy our freedom, but liberates our will from the slavery of sin!
