Transall C-160 Performs TWO Sarajevo Approaches | Extreme Banking & Powerback

One of the most spectacular military transport displays of Warbirds Over Scone 2026! This video follows the legendary Transall C-160 (VH-RPR) from the moment it is towed onto the apron through takeoff, an energetic aerial demonstration featuring TWO breathtaking Sarajevo approaches, steep tactical banking, a smooth landing, and an impressive powerback on the runway using reverse propeller thrust. The Sarajevo approach is one of the most famous tactical landing techniques ever developed. During the Bosnian War, military transport aircraft flying into Sarajevo descended in a steep spiral and high-rate approach to minimize their exposure to ground fire. Today, the maneuver has become a signature demonstration of the remarkable agility and precision that tactical airlifters like the C-160 are capable of achieving. Designed jointly by France and Germany, the Transall C-160 first flew in 1963 and entered service in the late 1960s. For more than five decades, it served with several air forces around the world in tactical airlift, humanitarian relief, medical evacuation, paratroop deployment and special operations. Its ability to operate from short, rough and unprepared airstrips earned it a reputation as one of the most capable tactical transport aircraft of its era. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Tyne turboprop engines producing over 6,000 shaft horsepower each, the C-160 is also equipped with reversible-pitch propellers. These not only provide outstanding stopping performance after landing but also allow the aircraft to perform a powerback under its own power—a capability rarely seen at airshows and a fitting conclusion to this impressive display.
