Griechischer Joghurt vs. Joghurt griechischer Art — Was ist wirklich der Unterschied?

Greek yogurt or Greek-style yogurt? Which is better is, of course, always a matter of taste! Today, I'll show you, using supermarket comparisons, homemade versions, and blind taste tests, how these two distinct yogurts differ in nutritional value, consistency, price, and, of course, taste! Instead of draining the yogurt after fermentation, I first skimmed off the yellow cream layer (and added it back later) and simply placed a cheesecloth on top of the yogurt and put it in the refrigerator for about 4 hours. This also absorbs whey, but naturally not as much as with the traditional draining method. I made Greek-style yogurt with 800ml of whole milk and 200ml of cream. I got about 350g of Greek yogurt per liter. Greek-style yogurt, on the other hand, weighed about 800g. So perhaps you can better understand the significant price difference now. This is also one of the reasons why I prefer to make my own Greek-style yogurt. I get organic raw milk directly from the farm for €1.40 per liter (which is roughly equivalent to 350g of Greek yogurt). Even though I don't use Greek milk and I can't officially call my yogurt "REAL" Greek yogurt, I still make it in the same traditional way, just with regional milk from Germany, but with similar nutritional values, taste, and consistency. That's what really matters to me ❤️
