Many people believe that there's no such thing as good or bad timbre because it's a matter of taste, but I'm sorry to shatter their world, but bad timbre does exist, regardless of taste. Taste isn't linked to bad timbre; a timbre with deficiencies in frequencies that bother the ears isn't a matter of personal taste, it's simply bad timbre. You can very well prefer timbres that are much deeper, higher, or mid-range, as long as it doesn't interfere with the music or bother the listeners. For timbre to be good, it has to have balance in its frequencies, it has to have definition. What do you think about this?
