Elder - Liminality / Dream State Return

Listen in hi-res/buy at Bandcamp: beholdtheelder.bandcamp.com Available on vinyl at www.stickman-records.com In winter of 2024, Elder reconvened in Berlin after a year mostly spent on creative sabbatical. We'd been on tour for many months each year since the pandemic, and brains and bodies were in need of rest and reset. Before beginning to work on the next full-length in earnest, we decided it would be good to pick up a shelved project from years past as an excuse to get back in the saddle playing together. This work is mostly comprised of fragments written between the periods of Omens and Innate Passage, but which seemed to fit neither album. Meeting together in studio, we reworked the song and were surprised to see the session growing longer and longer as we jammed out into infinity. The result is a unique bit of Elder which has one foot in the past and one in the future. Liminality / Dream State Return explores the idea of the space in-between states of development; the lyrics were written mostly in a stream of consciousness while the song unfolded. For us, the project represents a picture of Elder in a transitory space. --- Directed by Malachi Cull Cinematography by Leon De Backer Visual Effects by Matt Jimenez & Clara Chou Credits and Graphics by Adam Hill Special thanks to See You Rent for lighting assistance Elder is Nicholas DiSalvo Jack Donovan Michael Risberg Georg Edert Additional keyboards by Fabien de Menou Recorded by Richard Behrens and Fabien de Menou at Big Snuff Studio, Berlin in Winter 2024 Mixed by Richard Behrens Mastered by Carl Saff Album artwork and layout by Adam Hill
