[Reporter] Yes, Seohae-gu, Incheon, sent out a disaster safety text message about an hour ago, warning that there is a risk of part of the building collapsing due to the fire. The message instructs all residents within a 116-meter radius, including shops, factories, and offices located south of Coupang, to evacuate to a safe place. The fire, which started on the 6th floor of the Coupang logistics center at 6:50 a.m. yesterday (the 18th), began to intensify again as night fell. Fire authorities are focusing on preventing the spread of the fire by deploying additional high-rise fire trucks to areas where the flames are most severe. It was expected that the main fire could be extinguished around 11 PM tonight, but as the flames intensified on the 6th floor of the logistics center, the fire could not be put out by the target time. Fire authorities carried out firefighting operations by using excavators to demolish parts of the building toward the 6th floor. This was done to clear the smoke filling the building and to create space to spray firefighting water. However, thick smoke continues to emanate even after the demolition work, and the heat accumulated over a long period is not dissipating. [Anchor] It is almost the third day since the fire started. What is the reason it is taking so long to put out the fire? [Reporter] It is because flammable household goods are stacked three high on the 6th and 7th floors of the warehouse where the fire broke out, and the heavy smoke makes it difficult for firefighters to even enter the area due to poor visibility. Fire authorities explained that a single floor of the logistics warehouse spans 20,800 square meters, making it difficult to reach the source of the fire, and that narrow passageways restrict movement. There are also concerns regarding the building's safety. The intense heat caused concrete to burst, damaging some structural elements, and exposed rebar was identified in some areas. Therefore, until a safety assessment is completed, firefighters plan to continue suppressing the fire from the outside using specialized equipment, rather than entering the building directly. [Anchor] Smoke continues to rise; have there been any confirmed casualties so far? [Reporter] Fortunately, all 121 employees at the logistics center evacuated during the initial stages of the fire. However, fire authorities plan to conduct a second search for insiders as soon as the fire is extinguished, in preparation for the possibility of unidentified personnel. Additionally, two firefighters who inhaled smoke and showed symptoms of exhaustion during the fire suppression process have been transported to the hospital. Due to the continuing delays, Incheon's Seohae District has recommended that nearby daycare centers close for one day tomorrow. The recommendation applies to 31 daycare centers located in Seoknam 1, 2, and 3-dong, as well as Sinhyeon-Wonchang-dong. One nearby elementary school is also scheduled to close for the day tomorrow.
