CASHWOOL 100% extra-fine merino wool, color MILK, 1500 m/100 g, Product: LanaGatto, Art. HARMONY 5-ply The finished shawl weighs 280 g In this video, I show you a method for knitting a rounded shawl. This design is simple to make, but very pretty. The first video is dedicated to knitting a garter stitch shawl. For this shawl, I created a color gradient from antique rose to light beige. The video begins with a presentation of the knitted shawl. I show the size 3.5 knitting needles and the yarn I used. I then explain how to knit the gradient and the necessary calculations. All that's left is to start knitting! I then demonstrate how to cast on stitches in a specific way to begin the shawl. To create a rounded shawl, you need to increase the number of stitches; I also explain how and at what rate to do this in the video. In the second video, I show you how to knit the border of this shawl. I explain in detail, with a diagram, how to knit the border pattern, how to begin it, and how to finish it. Don't be discouraged if the shawl doesn't have a perfect shape immediately after you finish knitting it, or even during the knitting process. To help it take the desired shape, wash it after you've finished and let it dry flat. While it's still damp, it's very supple; you can therefore block it with pins. Once completely dry, remove the blocking: the shawl will then have taken the desired shape, which will remain the same until the next wash. 00:00 - Introduction 02:09 - Casting on stitches for the border 04:30 - Technical diagram for knitting the border Diagram elements 05:27 - First row of the border of a knitted shawl 07:53 - Second row of the border of a knitted shawl 09:27 - Third row of the border of a knitted shawl 12:19 - Fourth row of the border of a knitted shawl 13:35 - Fifth row of the border of a knitted shawl 16:19 - Sixth row of the border of a knitted shawl 17:03 - Seventh row of the border of a knitted shawl 17:53 - Wrapped row of the border of a knitted shawl 20:44 - Binding off the border stitches
