Simple Cyst A simple cyst means a thin balloon filled only with water. 2. Complicated Cyst In a complicated cyst, the lump contains debris along with water, which is also caused by infection. 3. Complex Cyst In a complex cyst, the cyst has a thick wall and contains solid or fluid along with solid. When a cyst contains a solid component, the risk of breast cancer increases. Doctors send the fluid, debris, or solid component present in the cyst for testing to determine whether a patient is at risk for breast cancer. In simple and complicated cysts, a needle is inserted to remove the fluid and then sent for testing. In complex cysts, a gun biopsy may be performed.
