Mount Kurikoma is just a little ways away from peak autumn foliage... There are an astonishing number of hot springs along the prefectural border. This time, I entered Ichinoseki, Iwate, and Hiraizumi, and circled around Mount Kurikoma. I discovered a wealth of things, including a family-friendly hotel near Genbikei Gorge, a hard sulfur spring for hikers, and a Yamagata villa I hadn't even noticed before. Along the way, I met many hot spring lovers, making it a rewarding experience. This was my first visit...
