“Kidderminster ‘61” (Pegg) - Bev Pegg and Friends.
“Kidderminster ‘61” (Pegg) Performed by Bev Pegg and Friends. Beaujangle DB0563 Thanks are due to the various photographers and artists and particularly the "Kidderminster Past" Facebook Group for many of the pictures that have been used in this short video. In this year 2021, Kidderminster is a very nice town to visit. The new modern shopping centres with their wide-ranging stores and shops are well laid out and a pleasure to stroll around. While the writer never lived in Kidderminster, he nevertheless spent a lot of time in the area during the early 1960s, playing in a jazz band and gigging with several other bands at various Kidderminster and Stourport venues. Walking around the many interesting shops in the town during 1961 for example was always something to enjoy. This “old part of town”, as a result of the new modern shopping centres a few roads away, in Kidderminster are not like they were sadly. In a way, the “buzz” seems to have understandably gone. Being an old bloke and walking around these streets today causes slight sadness and comparisons to how it was then, and how many of the landmarks of personal memories have gone, due naturally of course to the word progress. Anyway, this video might bring back a few fond memories to many Kidderminster folks of advanced age, who can recall these happy days of yesteryear.
