After having a bad fall that required a helicopter evac from the 2015 UTMB, Sage Canaday set out to find another 100 mile race where he could test his big mileage abilities. He quickly set his sights on making the 2016 Western States 100 his first official 100 miler. Managing to maintain 2nd place for the first 62 miles, Sage began to succumb to the toils of the notorious heat. Despite running well below course record for a majority of the race, Sage's day turned from racing the sunset in record time to simply fighting to finish.
