Former cyclist found murdered in latrine after home ransacked, stolen car recovered Police have launched a homicide investigation following the gruesome discovery of the body of a 62-year-old former cyclist at his Siparia home after relatives reported him missing. Dennis Archargee, of Quarry Road, Siparia, was found dead inside a latrine at the rear of his home on Friday, July 17, 2026, hours after family members discovered his house had been ransacked. According to police, at around 10 a.m., a relative went to check on Archargee after concerns grew over his whereabouts. The front door was found secured with a padlock, prompting the relative to force entry into the house. Once inside, the home was discovered in disarray. Initial checks revealed that several items were missing, including a gas cylinder, generator and brush cutter. Police officers who responded carried out a search of the property and made the grim discovery. Archargee's body was found inside a latrine behind the house, with his head and upper body inside the pit and his back exposed. He was clothed only in blue three-quarter pants. The District Medical Officer pronounced Archargee dead and ordered that his body be removed for a post-mortem examination at the Forensic Science Centre in St. James. Investigators had already been searching for Archargee after he was reported missing days earlier on Tuesday. Relatives told police they had last spoken with him around noon on Sunday, July 12, when he visited a family member's home. During enquiries, officers also discovered that Archargee's blue Nissan B14 motor car was missing. Later that evening, detectives located the abandoned vehicle along a track off Skinner Trace, Quarry Trace, Siparia, where it was processed by Crime Scene Investigators before being taken to the Siparia Police Station for further forensic examination. Police are now investigating the possibility that Archargee was the victim of a violent robbery that escalated into murder. Detectives are working to determine who was responsible and establish a motive. The killing has shocked the Siparia community, where Archargee, a former cyclist, was well known. Police investigations are continuing.— Story by I.A.N News
