Insulin - Mechanism of secretion | Mechanism of action

This is Dr.Raghu, welcome to my YouTube channel. In this video I describe the mechanism of insulin secretion and mechanism of action of Insulin. Though these two sound familiar they are very different. Mechanism of insulin secretion: Insulin is secreted from beta cells of pancreas in response to increased glucose concentration in body, three channels on beta cell play a very important role in insulin secretion, the ATP sensitive potassium channels, the Glucose transporter-2(GLUT-2) and voltage gated calcium channels. Mechanism of action of Insulin: Structure of insulin receptor and role of tyrosine kinase system in the mechanism of action of insulin. Insulin dependent glucose uptake.
