The National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. is one of the prestigious Smithsonian Institution museums. It features over 20,000 portraits in the museum, of which 1,400 are featured at any one time. The gallery exhibits portraits of important and influential Americans including presidents, politicians, statesmen, military figures, scientists, pioneers, businessmen, authors, poets, actors, and sports heroes. In fact, it features the nation's only complete collection of presidential portraits outside the White House. However, as you will see, there are other things here besides portraits as well.
