Grasedanz und Harzfest – Festumzug Hüttenrode 2025

🎉 Parade in Hüttenrode: Tradition, Music & Good Vibes Despite the Rain 🌧️ On Sunday, August 3, 2025, there was a big celebration in Hüttenrode in the Harz Mountains! 🎊 The occasion was the Harz Festival and the traditional Grasedanz, which celebrated its proud 140th anniversary this year. 🥳 Despite the drizzle, visitors and participants didn't let the spirits be dampened. Reporters Stefan B. Westphal and Chris Luzio Schönburg were there for the Landentdecker (Land Explorers) and accompanied the parade with plenty of humor and heart. 💬❤️ The Grasedanz is a very special tradition 🌾: It commemorates the hay harvest and how important women's work used to be. The women carried their baskets on their backs, decorated with colorful flowers 💐 – a real eye-catcher! Since 2020, the Grasedanz has even been listed as UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage 🏅. The tradition originated around 1885 in Hüttenrode and today also represents early steps towards equality. 👩‍🌾✊ The parade was a colorful spectacle 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️: Participating were fire departments 🚒, sports clubs 🏃‍♀️, shooting clubs 🎯, riding and driving clubs 🐎, music groups 🎺, and carnival clubs 🤡. Celebrities such as the district administrator, the mayors of Blankenburg and Hüttenrode, and pop star Maximilian Arland 🎤 also waved happily. The music of marching bands and brass bands kept everyone in a good mood – even in the rain! 🎶☔ The mix of old and new 👵👧 was particularly beautiful: Historical costumes, lovingly decorated floats 🚛, and traditional dances met energetic young club members. A highlight: The newlyweds from Hüttenrode were allowed to ride in their own float 💍💑 – a real crowd favorite! Finally, the festival concluded with a visit to the festival mile 🍻🍔, where the celebrations continued well into the evening. The parade demonstrated that the Harz region is alive, and the people there keep their traditions alive with pride and joy. 🏞️💚
