It was built in 1691 AD by the Nagavanshi King Thakur Ani Nath Shahdev. It is modeled after the Jagannath Temple of Utkal Puri. The temple is built on a small hill approximately 85-90 meters high. The temple complex is surrounded by dense trees, further enhancing its hygienic atmosphere. Since its construction, numerous changes have been made to the temple's structure. Currently, vehicles are available to directly access the main entrance. A short distance from the main temple, on a hill, is another small temple known as Mausibari. On the occasion of the Rath Yatra, a procession is taken out from the main temple to Mausibari. A grand Rath Yatra is held here every year, and a seven-day fair is held. Jagannath Temple is located 15 kilometers from Ranchi station. The prasad here is famous, and a meal costs ₹50. Jagannath Temple in Ranchi is a 17th-century temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath.
