This vid goes through three different ways to play it, plus a full breakdown of the strumming pattern, the rhythm, and the timing of the song. I'll show you: 1. The Easy Way - Three easy chords—each of these chords are played with only two fingers! Don't let their complicated chord names scare you off ;) We're actually playing a Cmaj7, Em, and D 6/9/11 in this easy version. But it's not a cheat; you'll sound incredible when you use these chords. (And, bonus, it's just super easy and fun to play it this way!) 2. The Brandon Way - I've watched every video I could find of Brandon playing this song, and I'm telling you, this is how he does it. Just add a couple extra fingers to what we learned in "The Easy Way" and you're playing it just like Brandon, himself. You got this! 3. The Pro Way - If you listen to the recording, at the beginning of the song, in the first verse, you'll hear a slightly different chord voicing than what we just learned in "The Easy Way" and "The Brandon Way." In fact, what they're doing there is just playing those same chords (sonically, not chord shapes) down in first position. There's also some hammer-on movement inside of those chords that I'll show you, so that you can mimic the lead line of the recording. It really brings your playing to life. 4. Rhythm + Strumming - This song is all about that grooving rhythm! It's in 6/8 time, so I'll show you what that rhythm feels like and how to lock into it and get that swinging feel. And then we'll go over every part of the song—verse, chorus, bridge—one by one, to show you the exact tricks you can use to give it that soulful vibe right away.
