Praying Through Pain
Praying Through Pain | 1 Samuel 1:1–28 What do you do when the pain doesn’t go away? What happens when the prayers feel unanswered… the burden feels repetitive… and the struggle becomes something you carry silently year after year? In this message, we walk through the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1 and discover how faith responds in seasons of pain, waiting, disappointment, and emotional exhaustion. Hannah’s story is not just about infertility. It’s about silent battles. The kind of pain people don’t always see: • The grief hidden behind a smile • The anxiety nobody knows about • The pressure of waiting on God • The exhaustion of carrying the same burden for years • The feeling of being misunderstood while already hurting Year after year, Hannah carried heartbreak. Year after year, she prayed. Year after year, she wept. But instead of running from God, Hannah brought her pain honestly before Him. “Faith is not pretending it doesn’t hurt. Faith is bringing the hurt to God.” From this message, we uncover three powerful truths: • God Sees Pain • Prayer Brings Peace • Surrender Changes Everything God sees the tears people misunderstand. Even when others misread your pain, God understands completely. Some of the deepest battles are invisible battles. Private struggles. Silent prayers. Internal pain. And Hannah reminds us that God hears the prayers people around us may never understand. Prayer Brings Peace. Before Hannah’s situation changed, her heart changed. Samuel had not been born yet. The answer had not arrived yet. But after pouring out her soul before God, the Bible says her face was no longer downcast. Sometimes peace comes before the breakthrough. “Sometimes God changes the person before He changes the situation.” This message is a reminder that prayer does not always immediately remove the burden… but it reminds us we are not carrying it alone. And finally: Surrender Changes Everything. After God answered Hannah’s prayer, she surrendered Samuel back to the Lord. Because Hannah understood something powerful: Some blessings are assignments. Her private pain became connected to a greater purpose. Samuel would become a prophet, leader, and spiritual voice for Israel. “God can turn private pain into public purpose.” This message will challenge and encourage you if you’ve been: • Waiting on God • Carrying disappointment • Fighting silent battles • Emotionally exhausted • Struggling to keep trusting through pain God sees you. God hears you. And delayed does not mean forgotten. Maybe the answer has not arrived yet… but peace can. Delivered: May 10th, 2026
