Waitawheta Tramway trail Kaimai's Epi 56

Our first overnight tramp with the kids. We hike 10.5km into the Kaimai range where they once logged the Native Kauri trees. There is a well established trail which was once a tramway for removing the timber. A great piece of New Zealand history with Kauri now a protected tree and threatened by Kauri dieback (a tree disease) The kids are true champions hiking so far and carrying packs with their own gear. We look forward to our next adventure, eyeing up Waikaremoana multi day track. #Waitawheta #tramping #Adventure
