Sometimes Travel Doesn't Go as Planned | Our Gibb River Road Story

The Gibb River Road... one of Australia's greatest 4WD adventures, and we couldn't wait to experience it. Our journey began with two incredible nights at El Questro, where we explored the beautiful Zebedee Springs and even crossed the mighty Pentecost River (because you can't come this far and not give it a go! 😄). But sometimes life has other plans. While we were at El Questro we received some heartbreaking news, and suddenly tackling the entire Gibb River Road just didn't feel right. Rather than push on, we decided to listen to our hearts, change our plans, and make our way towards Broome instead. Even with the change of plans, we discovered some fantastic free camps along the way, including Little Panton River, Mary Pool, and a couple of surprisingly good gravel pit camps. We also rejoined the Gibb halfway along to visit Tunnel Creek... but that's where technology let us down. Our GoPro decided to have a meltdown and didn't record any of our Tunnel Creek adventure. We were absolutely devastated! We've included a few photos to show you what this amazing place is like, but unfortunately they're not our own footage. Safe to say the GoPro has officially been retired, and from now on we'll be sticking with our phones and our DJI camera. Not every adventure goes according to plan, but every journey has a story... and this is ours. If you enjoyed travelling with us, we'd love it if you'd like, subscribe, and join us for the next adventure! #GibbRiverRoad #ElQuestro #PentecostRiver #TunnelCreek #Broome #VanLifeAustralia #CaravanLife #TravelAustralia #WesternAustralia #RoadTripAustralia
