Solo Hiking the Salmo-Priest Loop in 1 Day

This 18 mile hike starts in Washington, takes you into Idaho, and makes you feel close enough to throw a rock into Canada - all in a days trip. This loop trail can be done in a simple weekend backpacking trip or a long day hike/trail run. Bring your bear spray too. Black bears are much more common, but there's a small Grizzly bear population that lives in these woods too. Equally as interesting, and albeit quite rare, the Selkirk Mountains are the last remaining refuge for woodland caribou in the contiguous United States - particularly within the Salmo-Priest Wilderness.
