Hoad Trabert 1953 Davis Cup Highlights
Glimpses of one of the most epic matches from the Golden Age of Australian/ U.S. Tennis. 19 year old Lew Hoad, later said by several tennis greats to be the very best player of all time on his best days, defeated American Tony Trabert to keep Australia alive in the Davis Cup. Supposedly this match was absolutely huge at the time, with sections of Australian streets closed as everyone tuned in to the match, and was talked about extensively decades later (much like the 1980 wimbledon final or 2008 wimbledon final), surprising for a davis cup match, but the tournament use to hold a lot of prestige and popularity. Hoad won 13-11, 6-3, 2-6, 3-6, 7-5 (Apologies for occasional camera shake/re-adjustments & background noises)
