The creators of the documentary series “Killzone” got exclusive access to one of the most effective unmanned systems units within Ukraine’s Defense Forces — the “Phoenix” UAV group. This means viewers will get to see what usually never makes it on camera. The main character of the documentary project is military journalist Oleksandr Yermakov. Since 2022, his mission has been to document the combat work of border guards on the frontline — you’ve probably seen his footage on this channel before. But in 2025, he made a major decision: to switch roles and become an FPV drone pilot in the “Phoenix” unit. In the fourth episode of the series, Oleksandr’s training is coming to an end. Very soon, the recruit will transition from training to active combat operations. Given the rapid advancement of enemy unmanned systems units, newcomers are trained to counter Russian strike drones before deploying to the front line. The production of this project took over six months—from the summer of 2025 to the winter of 2026. Across 5 episodes, you will see how pilots repel assaults and stop enemy infantry, why the border guards need their own "underground factory," and just how complex and large-scale the confrontation with Russian UAV operators has become. You will also discover the dangers drone operators face every day while working to create a killzone.
