Saving Abel, originating in 2004 in Corinth, Mississippi, was founded by Jared Weeks and Jason Null. The two musicians met in the local music scene, bonding over songwriting before forming the band. Null’s musical journey began with his older brother’s influence, while Weeks grew up in a musically inclined family. Initially playing as a duo called Shade of Grace, they performed a mix of Christian and romantic songs in local venues. Producer Skidd Mills encouraged them to adopt a more mainstream rock approach, leading to the creation of their breakout single "Addicted". The duo recruited additional band members, including drummer Blake Dixon, bassist Eric Taylor, and guitarist Scott Bartlett. They recorded an independent album in 2006 and caught the attention of major labels with "Addicted", which Weeks wrote while working at a hospital. Signed by Virgin Records, their self-titled major-label debut in 2008 featured hits like "Addicted" and "18 Days", achieving commercial success and extensive touring with notable rock bands. Their second album, "Miss America" (2010), debuted at number 24 on the charts, with singles like "Stupid Girl" and "The Sex Is Good". They supported this album by performing for US military personnel. In 2012, they released "Bringing Down the Giant" under Sony's eOne label, but it had minimal promotion. Weeks left the band in 2013 due to mental health and substance abuse issues, later entering rehab. Scotty Austin replaced Weeks, and the band released "Blood Stained Revolution" in 2014. They continued touring despite several lineup changes. In 2021, Weeks rejoined the band, leading to the release of "Shade of Grace - Twenty Year Songs". Saving Abel recently released new tracks "Baptize Me" and "Fire", with "Fire" charting at number 36. Despite some confusion about Weeks' status, he remains the frontman, performing at upcoming gigs.
