74 - Little Nothings of a Week in France / Heirloom Notebooks & Summer Prep
Bonjour, In this week’s video I am sharing a few quiet moments of late spring in France : creating heirloom notebooks and photo albums using antique fabrics, preparing thoughtful gifts for loved ones and slowly getting our holiday apartment ready for the summer season ahead. Thank you so much for spending these little everyday moments with me Audrey ☕️ If you wish to show your support, you can buy me a coffee :) : https://buymeacoffee.com/frenchcountr... Sycamore : https://www.epidemicsound.com/music/t... 🌿 How I Make My Heirloom Fabric Notebooks & Photo Albums Materials A plain notebook or photo album Antique or vintage fabric PVA glue Paintbrush Bone folder Scissors Decorative paper for the inside covers (I love handmade cotton paper) Optional : antique paper, music sheets or handwritten documents for decoration Method Begin by placing your notebook or album onto the fabric and folding the fabric around it to choose the part of the motif you would like to highlight. Cut the fabric leaving a 2.5 cm / 1 inch allowance all around the notebook. Using a paintbrush, apply PVA glue onto the front cover and gently smooth the fabric in place using a bone folder to remove any creases or air bubbles. Repeat the same process for the spine and back cover. Cut small slits into the fabric along the spine edges so the fabric folds neatly inward. Glue and fold the inside edges carefully, smoothing them down with the bone folder for clean corners and crisp edges. Fold and glue the top and bottom fabric edges inward around the spine. Cut two pieces of decorative paper slightly smaller than the inside covers (about 1 cm / ⅜ inch smaller on all sides). Glue the paper neatly onto the inside covers to hide the folded fabric edges. Add special finishing touches if desired : antique papers, handwritten notes, vintage illustrations or music sheets. And that is all ✨ A simple but beautiful way to transform an ordinary notebook into a keepsake piece to treasure or gift.
