Surrounded by lush ferns, towering trees, and the quiet sounds of nature, this easy trail offers a chance to experience both the beauty and resilience of the redwood ecosystem. Along the way, informational signs explain the area’s history and highlight the incredible restoration efforts that have taken place throughout the park. What was once a network of logging roads has slowly been reclaimed by nature through decades of rehabilitation work. Since the 1980s, more than 250 miles of old logging roads within Redwood National Park have been restored to help protect streams, wildlife habitats, and the health of the forest itself. As you walk through the recovering landscape, it’s amazing to see how the forest continues to heal and thrive. The Ah-Pah Interpretive Trail is a great reminder of both the history of the redwoods and the ongoing work to preserve these ancient forests for future generations.
