Forgotten People - The Dubuque Marshallese Community

Access to in-person translation for the Dubuque Marshallese community is very limited. When translators are not available, medical and other professional staff must use digital translation tools to communicate. Currently, there are no quality options available for the Marshallese language. Clarke students were awarded a scholarship called Activism and Values Informed Education (AVIE) Clarke Compass Award. These students who were chosen were called to make a difference in equity and inclusion. Students worked with mentors and created a plan of action for change as it related to systemic challenges of racism and oppression in our community.
