Words by Mehdi Aminian: "When Elaha sent me a Daido, I was struck by its power and felt the need to include one in our repertoire of Hazara. The four-note structure of it seemed very challenging musically, and only after understanding the meaning of the poem, the direction became clear to me. (Translation in the comment)." You can read more about Daido by Elaha here: "Daido is a genre of music from Ghazni & Jaghori in the center of Afghanistan, normally performed by women. The themes of Daido often include displacement, longing for a beloved, or mourning. This particular Daido is about a daughter singing about her mother, father, and brother, expressing feelings of displacement and missing the past and the moments she shared with her mother. Typically, this style of music is performed without any instruments, but Mehdi made an arrangement that is very touching and close to my heart, as it tells the story of my life being separated from my mother and family members. Whenever I sing this Daido, I remember my family..."
