Dan Inosanto owns his own martial arts academy in Marina del Rey, California, where he teaches the philosophy and art of jitkundo, Filipino martial arts, fist fighting, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, silat, mixed martial arts. His path of studying martial arts began thanks to his uncle Vince, who taught 11-year-old Dan traditional Okinawan karate, and later judo and jiu-jitsu. After that, he was a student of Ed Parker, under whose guidance he studied American karate-kempo, and then became a student of Bruce Lee in Los Angeles, having first met him in 1964[1]. Dan Inosanto is one of the three people that Lee allowed to teach other people his martial arts system, and the only one he allowed to teach others jitkundo up to the third level of skill.
